Research Proposal
I want to learn about why people at work get depressed and how they can help themselves with anxiety or stress at work. Others say that workplace depression should not be a big deal because they have a job and some people aren’t fortunate enough to have one and that they should be grateful. I say that depression at work is not due to being ungrateful but it’s due to lack of doing meaningful and fulfilling work. I think for Part A, I will be doing a blog post because I feel you can really express your opinions through the form. My plan to complete this paper is to start looking for sources, after I find sources I’ll start a rough draft. After getting input on how to improve the draft I’ll revise and finally turn it in. “72% of employees want employers to champion mental health and well-being”(Kohll), this is from a Forbes article about workplaces can institute policies that benefit mental health. “Depression, left untreated, may have a significant impact on work performance”(American Psychiatric Foundation), this article highlights how depression can affect the workplace, how employers can spot depression and solutions to workspace depression. “According to Mental Health America, one in 20 workers is experiencing depression at any given time”(Esposito). This Huffington Post article goes in depth on coping strategies for dealing with workplace depression. One solution the article lists is by taking a mental health break, which is taking time off to focus on yourself. Work and depression, mental health at work, work and stress, job power and depression, meaningful work, worker input and depression.
